A Day at the Beach

Yesterday, we made a somewhat spur of the moment decision (the night before) to go to the beach for the day. I have really been wanting to take Malachi back down to the water (the last time he went, he was 5 months old). The weather has been pretty darn perfect and my parents were going down to stay in their timeshare so it seemed like a perfect opportunity.

I spent a lot of time the night before packing. I couldn't believe how much there was to remember and pack for 2 babies for just a day trip to the beach :)

We had a great time, and after being a little unsure of the sand and hating that cold pacific ocean water, Malachi had an awesome time playing in the sand with his daddy!

Eli, wasn't a huge fan of the ocean. He got annoyed at one point and was screaming bloody murder as I tried to keep him covered from the sun. I felt really bad for everyone else around us - I didn't want to ruin their day at the beach. Peter made a dash to the car to grab a bottle while I tried to keep track of Malachi and deal with my screaming baby. Before long, another beach goer came over and offered to let us have their huge umbrella and sheet (much better than me trying to shade Eli with a towel!) They were leaving and it was a very kind gesture! So Eli and I spent our time laying down and relaxing while daddy entertained Malachi!

Finally the boys were tuckered out and so we headed off to meet my parents at the resort.

After Eli took a rest (there was no stopping Malachi, no matter how tired he was) we went down to one of the pools. Eli has never been in the water and Malachi loves it so I had a great time watching the boys play in the pool!

After a short swim, we took the boys back up and we had dinner, and the boys got their nightly bath before we packed them back in to the car and headed home. Eli was out as soon as we put him in the car seat and Malachi was out in less than 5 minutes :) A fun but exhausting day at the beach!
