Disneyland - here we come!!!

As we complete another year of marriage we are returning to the place where we have so many happy memories together!!! From our first trip together when Peter proposed to our honeymoon and now to our second year of marriage where even more memories will be made. Disneyland really is our happy place :)

This second year of marriage has been an awesome and very busy year for us. We began our second year of marriage with a get-away to southern Oregon and it was a great time for us to remember the first year and talk about the coming year of our marriage and how many big things we had coming in the next year. Here we are at the completion of it and this year has exceeded our expectations in so many ways. Peter finished up college and dealt with the strenuous recruiting process which brought a major life decision of choosing which place to begin his career (or adult) life.

We celebrated and relaxed in Jamaica after completing the first major project of our married life - getting hubby through school :) It is not easy to be married and go to school (or be the spouse of someone in school) and it really was a big deal for us to complete together. Jamaica was just an awesome experience that neither one of us will ever forget. It was a trip that brought us much closer together and was truly a blessed experience for both of us.

This past year we also added our first "baby" to the family. Juno is our little practice baby and in a lot of ways she is conditioning us for parenthood. We have learned a lot about each other by just adding a dog to the mix - who knew!?!

The first two years have been awesome and quite frankly - surprisingly easy in a lot of ways. We are thankful and feel very blessed that we have had an easy first two years together and look forward to everyday together. We definitely do not have a perfect marriage but we try hard to not say things we will regret later. We know we would not be the people we are today without each other. We have lived our marriage so far by two basic principles and thus far they have worked:

Trust and Commitment

Trust in the other person and their faithfulness in EVERY area of life to you and a commitment to gain the same trust from your spouse.

18 months!

Today is our 18 month anniversary. I know that some people think it is stupid to be excited about a year and a half anniversary but I think every milestone in marriage should be celebrated. Since we did have to work all day today our "celebration" will consist of going out to a simpe dinner and maybe spending a little bit of time relaxing together.

We have finally been married just as long as we were engaged. It is nice to pass that stupid milestone. The 18 months of marriage have been superb and much better then the engagement phase! I have enjoyed every minute of being married (okay, almost every minute) and have never looked back or wanted anything else in my life.

Anyway, nothing great to report on this end. I got a raise yesterday - which is always nice :) Today I had my 3 year anniversary coffee at work and tonight we will celebrate 18 months of marriage!!! I guess that is a pretty good 2 days right there!!!

In sickness and health

Well, the week is over! I did in fact call in sick yesterday. I tried to avoid it but I think it was for the best. There is no way with the shape my back was in that I would be able to do my job. I did go in today and now I only have three more days of work next week! I am still getting over this bug that I have and I am really hoping Peter doesn't get it.

I am always amazed how Peter steps up to the plate when I really need him to. He never fails to take care of me when I need him to. The last few days he has helped me out with every little thing that he can. He's been forcing me to bed at 6:30 at night so I get enough rest. He's been making sure I drink enough water to get better. Wednesday night he even went to the store and bought my food and gift for a gift exchange I had at work. He wrapped the gift and even delivered it to my work after I was unable to go. It really is the smallest things that he does that really make me fall more in love with him and become even more attracted to him.

I feel so very lucky that he chose me to be his wife. It is weird how we still miss each other all the time. I always figured after you got married and lived together that you would get tired of always being around each other, or at least enjoy your time apart. I think we both do enjoy sometime to ourselves, but overall we still really miss each other after a work day and look forward to our time together on the weekends! There is so much about marriage that I am still learning :)

It never ceases to amaze me how Peter lives out his wedding vows to me on a daily basis. I never doubted that he would keep his vows, but in my mind he exceeds them daily! With all of the back problems I have had in the past year and how they have affected me physically, financially, emotionally, and at times spiritually - he has been there every step of the way in more ways then I thought I needed him. God is good and he gave me the best!

Welcome to our world!!!

This is the first post on our new blog. The reason that I really wanted to do this is to let people who may want to keep up with us know just what we are doing. It may not be the most exciting thing to read, but hopefully insightful and entertaining enough. Life is pretty busy at the moment and is showing no signs of slowing which isn't a bad thing. We are both anxious for this year to be over so it can go ahead and fly by!

The busyness of life has created some challenges. It has been very difficult for us to even see each other lately much less talk or have a relationship. My day begins at 4 in the morning while Peter's day hasn't been ending until 9-10 at night. We spend a very short amount of time together in the morning getting ready and then see each other for a short amount of time at night. We try to check in with each other as much as we can during the day and it is definitely refreshing to know we are still thinking about each other! It can be frustrating at times, but we are trying to embrace where we are right now and deal with the separation.

We are both pretty excited about the coming month. Peter will hopefully have a job by the end of the month or soon after! This is what we have been working towards and talking about since we met and it is so nice to know that it is upon us! I know I am much more excited then Peter is. He after all is the one that has to actually go out there and get a job. My excitement is in the waiting to see just what God has in store for him! I know God has his hand in this and has the right place for Peter all ready for him. Now he just has to reveal his perfect plan to us!

It is nice to see that firms are already interested in him. He will be a great accountant and it is so nice to see others noticing what I have known all along! He has met with an accountant from one firm and last night met with a recruiter from another firm. There are people pulling for him at both of these firms which is very good news! I think it has been a great opportunity for him to meet with these people and get a taste of the individual firms and they have also helped him out a lot as far as interview prep goes. The accountant he met with was very insightful on the young family side of the job and helped us realize just what "busy season" will be like on a family.

Tonight he is at something called OSPCA where a lot of accounting firms go and you kind of meet and greet with them. You give them your resumes and try to make a good first impression with them. Tonight is a big night - and I have no doubt he will do well. Peter informed me that the firms offer lots of free little gifts and candies at their booths so I put him on the mission to bring me back as much junk as he can. Hopefully my mission won't distract him from his real mission. He will probably be so nervous that he will completely forget about my goodies. He looked very nice tonight in his suit and tie. I could definitely get used to that look!

In non-job related news - We are runners!!! Okay Peter is a runner - I .............. am trying. Peter's short term goal for now is to run the Disneyland Half-Marathon next year and mine MAY be to run the 5K with him down there. We are trying to stay committed to running and we do run together when our schedules allow. Peter can easily run 3-5 miles a night while my goal is pathetic and I won't even mention it - but I am trying!

That's what is going on in our lives at this moment, thanks for reading!!!
