Foster Pups #17 and #18 - Jagger and Josh

The day after returning Express, we were asked if we could take a sweet 7 week old baby puppy named Jagger.  He was the biggest boy in his litter and settled right into the home with the kids!  He loved to snuggle!

A couple days after having Jagger, we were asked if we could take on his brother Josh too. Now there are pros and cons to two puppies. They can definitely entertain each other and they snuggle with each other at night which keeps the new puppy whining down to a minimum.  But with two comes higher energy out of them and just in general the messes they make tend to more than double the work for us.

Luckily they were cuties, even if they were a handful!

And now the house is once again empty of puppies and we can relax a bit before the next pups come along!

Thanksgiving And Black Friday

I discover more and more how magical the holiday season is with kids at the ages ours are at, and I think this year may just be the most magical yet! They're so excited for everything and actually able to really participate in all the festivities now. If I could freeze time for just a little bit longer with them at this age, I would!

This year we were off to my Grandma's house. She's been hosting this thing for my entire life and has it down to a perfect science.  The family has grown to the point that we have tables cascading all over the house, but we all squeeze in!  We had a few last minute change of plans as my cousin decided to have a baby for Thanksgiving so we were all waiting on pins and needles all day!

The kids had their spots and were ready to dig in!

Seriously we had so much more food than we could ever eat, and it is so darn delicious!  When I say grandma knows how to do thanksgiving, she knows how to do thanksgiving!

After we all were stuffed, the kids brought out toys and played pretty pretty princess. We snuck a quick picture of Eli before he decided they were taking the game too far!

But the girls loved it!

And then the tradition that has always held strong for the family and every generation loves - Bingo for candy bars!

And of course far more desserts than any family can eat!

This was our take away plate from my grandma, pie for days!

And then it was home to prepare for Henry the elf's return! Breakfast was all set for Friday morning!

Morning brought lots of squeals of delight, it is Christmas time!

Hot Chocolate with Peppermint mashmallows and snowman donuts

And snowman pancakes with bacon scarves

Then decorating a few new ornaments for the Christmas tree

And tree time!

After some more decorating, we made a gingerbread house!

Everyone got to have a part!

Seriously such a fantastic weekend and time with our family!  We are so blessed and I am incredibly thankful for my beautiful family and the memories we make!

Foster Puppy #16 - Express

We had a little gap in puppies while we were on a few trips this fall, but the day after we got back from Jamaica I was asked if I could take on this sweet girl named Express!

Instantly I could just tell she was one happy puppy! She came right out of the kennel with tail wagging and it didn't stop all week long!  She was also the quietest puppy who never let out a single peep, even when I put her in the kennel at bedtime!

She was also a huge ball of energy, but that was easily fixed with Boston (my past foster pup Pretzel, now adopted by Peter's brother and wife).  They are both huge little balls of energy and had a blast playing and snuggling this week!

She also adored the kids, she certainly seemed like the perfect foster!

We seriously debated keeping this sweet girl. Even Peer who is the hard one to convince was debating it.  I know I could have easily convinced him to keep her, but we just aren't convinced we are ready for the responsibility of a dog full time right now. The foster puppy route has been perfect for us!  It was really hard to say goodbye to her and we did say if she wasn't adopted this weekend that we would keep her, but she was quickly snatched up.  Our sadness was short lived though as our next foster was quickly in the home.   Hope you have a great life Express!

Jamaica Day 7

Our last morning in Paradise.  This day was a little bit long and hard as I found out that I had 3 very sick kiddo's at home. Worst feeling, knowing they wanted their mama and there was nothing I could do to get home to them. I knew my mom was taking great care of them and we might as well make the most of our time away, but I kept in close contact with her throughout the day to see how they were doing.

After the breakfast buffet for lunch, we spent most of the afternoon at the pool. A rain storm passed through that we enjoyed in the comfort of the hot tub before returning to the pool when the sun came back out.  Everyone at the pool had a great laugh as 3 female peacocks and one male came prancing by the pool. He put his feathers out and was doing everything in his power to try and impress one of these girls but they just completely ignored his existence.

The whole afternoon was a little bit stormy, but still beautiful. We remember storms passing through every afternoon with thunder and lightening during our stay in May so the fact that it hadn't really rained much at all on this trip in November surprised us.

We finally got out of the pool and headed off for some pizza lunch, a big plate of pastries and a couple dirty banana's for Peter. We were living it up on our last day!

Peter went to check on our food and a peacock decided to join me at his place. I think she was disappointed when I didn't share.

And then back to our room to check on the kiddos and watch our last sunset in this beautiful place!

Gonna miss waking up to this incredible view every day!

We ate a late lunch so we weren't ready for dinner until 9:00. I wasn't even that hungry (darn worrying about the kids) but Peter was and I am glad he took me out for one last dinner. We were off to the french restaurant this evening and were the last ones to eat at the restaurant for the night.  I had Chicken Cordon Bleu with Rice Pilaf and Peter had some sort of Beef dish that I don't even remember.  He also had some Creme Brulee for dessert. We also had hit up the Friday night chocolate buffet.

The resort was having a blast with live music and fun all around. This was the first evening we had been out this late so it was fun to see what we had been missing out on.

We decided to walk back on the beach. It was pretty late but still fun to get one last walk on the beach with just the stars and the moon!

And of course I got a goodbye of my mama kitty and her baby. This was actually quite comical as Peter convinced the mama to come all the way up to the 4th floor with him.  Her baby was very skittish and only would come up to the 1st floor and then started crying for her mommy. This put the mommy into a panic and I literally thought she was going to jump from the 4th floor balcony down to the 1st.  Peter laughed at me and told me I was crazy but they seriously did not seem like they could figure out how to reunite. So I slowly walked down the flights of stairs and showed mommy how to get back to her baby.

                            And they were happy again!

The next morning we were up bright and early. It was only 3AM at home but my mom texted me to let me know that the kids were all doing better. That reassured me for the long 17 hour day ahead of us.

Goodbye to our little piece of paradise.  We had wonderful new memories to bring home and were so grateful for the opportunity to get away and celebrate our anniversary together!

In so many ways we marveled at how quickly these first 10 years of marriage have passed us by. There have been oh so many moments of great joy and fun together. So much has happened in our first 10 years and it is exciting to think of what will happen in the next 10. Our journey, while mostly really wonderful has not come without some really hard times. However, through it all, as we've continued to stand in our commitment to one another I am seeing us growing into a place better than where we've ever been before.  It isn't always easy but this trip was just what we needed to remember how great we are as a couple and how deep our love for one another still is!
