Summer Trip To Eagle Crest

It's no surprise to probably anyone to say this year has been a pretty cruddy year.  This summer was no different and when we just about reached the breaking point, the opportunity presented itself for us to get out of town for a couple of days to one of our most favorite places ever!

It was a really rough start with a baby who cried a lot of the way there and the car sick prone child puking and it was really making me second guess all the work it took to get there. But once we were there, we wished we could stay a lot longer because it felt like the first breath of fresh air in a very long time!

We took advantage of the fact that Peter can pretty much work from anywhere right now so he was still working on this trip but my parents were up there in a different house so it was easy to keep the kids entertained while he worked.  Ayla had some sort of a bug while we were gone so she did not sleep well at all but we powered through.  And of course had to have sourdough pancakes every morning!

We took the opportunity to show the kids a really cool place - Smith Rock.  The views there are always gorgeous and it wowed most of the kids!

And there was no shortage of sun and swimming to be had. It was just a perfect break for the kids before we came back home to utter chaos.

We had a blast and the trip was far too short, but we look forward to being back at Eagle Crest here soon. It is so nice to be able to get away and escape as a family and it was so well timed.  As we approach the end of this rough year, we have chosen to be very intentional with our time and to really dial it in as a family and grow spiritually and relationally inside our family unit. We are hopeful that things will be looking up in this time we spend intentional on the things that matter most to us!
