March Recap

March was a month! We had some stressful, hard moments but lots of exciting moments too. And just as I suspected, the month FLEW by!  I cannot believe we are already 1/4 of the way through this year! For the first time in 2 years life feels completely back to normal! Between the weather getting nicer and getting back to all the activities the kids love, it has just been really nice!

We sold Peter's little hybrid commuter car this month and upgraded it in a really big way!

I was down for days with a bad infection and Peter really had to step up and run the house while trying to work.  I had a couple days where I was barely out of bed so I got some baby snuggles and let Leeland nap with me.  I also laugh because I just was not feeling life and Ayla took full advantage. Here she is, in the afternoon, still wearing (Christmas) jammies and hiding in the cupboard eating chocolate chips. She's a smart one!

I love spring when the trees start to bloom and daffodils and tulips come up!

Eli cut his finger pretty darn good and had to get it glued up. He also had to wear a splint for 10 days so he didn't rip it back open if he bent his finger. I'll spare the internet from the gory pictures!

We celebrated St Patrick's Day!

I celebrated my 36th Birthday!  It was the first one in a long time that either the world was opened up or I didn't have morning sickness and actually wanted to go out and celebrate. We have really been enjoying Beaver baseball as a family so Peter found us tickets to a game! We had a great time and returned home for the kids to demolish the strawberries off the cake my mom made me!

Sabrina LOVES dogs and has begged us to get back into fostering puppies this year.  So she had a fun week with this little girl!

Groot celebrated his 4th Birthday!

Leeland is scooting and rolling all over the place now. It won't be long at all before he is crawling!

Ayla and LB helped me get the garden planted!

As usual, Peter had his hands full with projects.  Our stair system we ordered finally came in so we were able to get started!

In the midst of all that, the gas company also discovered a gas leak on our property which made Peter have to drop everything and get the gas leak fixed so that we weren't without hot water or a stove for too long.  Peter is pretty darn impressive and had located, and fixed the 2 leaks on the property within 24 hours of them shutting it off!  Of course now he has the work of fixing the concrete and slate where the leak was.

Ayla has been something! She's sweet, spicy, and learning so much!  She loves being outside and exploring.  She has also learned her colors, shapes (I love how she says "rectangle" "octagon" "triangle" big words for a little girl!)  and even has started naming her numbers. She is so funny and entertaining and opinionated and a sponge!

The kids have been busy with science classes, church, a bowling night at church, meeting up with friends, Bible study, swim lessons, ballet, piano lessons. Whew, and to think it just gets even busier next month! LB moved up a level in swim lessons, and Sabrina moved up a level in piano!

Eli had it made with his nerf guns!  Ayla loves to load the guns with darts and also loves to set up soda cans after they've fallen down for him to knock down!

We finished the lower level of stairs and they look so good! We are still working on some of the finishing work, waiting on a part the company overlooked for the upper section, and then we will move along to it, but that will be a much bigger job!

We had some visitors this month! Peter's cousin came to town from Seattle and Peter's grandma came and stayed for a long weekend!

Another favorite phrase of Ayla's is "Can I help too?"  The kids have learned this is awesome with their chores and I say take advantage of her willingness to help while it lasts!

Another new skill of Ayla's is climbing out of her bed. We are trying to keep her in the crib as long as we can but those days are very numbered!  Also there is Groot, the best watcher of the kids one could ever have!

It was a good month where we are definitely enjoying spring in the air!  The kids are outside more and more which is so good for all of us to get fresh air and wear themselves out. It feels like we are really cruising through school now and we will be adding spring soccer for 3 of the kids starting next week so we will be outside even more! April brings Birthday's galore and Easter along with lots of school and activities!  It is going to fly by too!
